our medical team of 3 doctors and 3 nurses left chicago on january 27. we arrived to the Dominican Republic late in the night, slept for 2 and a half hours and were ready to go to haiti at 6am on the morning of this picture. we were scared. we didn't know what to expect. but we wore our brave faces that morning.none of us could have predicted what was ahead for us in the 2 weeks to come. the challenges were present, but we lacked nothing in food, water, safety, or comfort.
on the day of this picture, we would drive for close to 10 hours into port au prince to meet the people from heartland alliance, our host relief organization in haiti.
